Day 3 of my SUP trip to India
India SUP Trip Day 3
"By Paul Hyman"
We are settling in at the Rangers Centre which is now the hub of activity for the India Surf Festival.
Meeting quite a few friends from last year and working on plans for SUP races, SUP Ball, and beginner lessons over the last 3 days.
Also a few interesting meetings with the Superintendent of Police and Forestry Chief. The Superintendent was very positive and so was the Forestry Chief (after Sanjay from the ISF had worked his charm and diplomacy on him!).
I’m still fascinated by the cows in the street. They walk serenely among the traffic and act as traffic calming. I’ve never seen one get hit and they seem totally at ease around people. Many of them are bulls – some with very sharp horns. If you saw one in a field at home you would at least consider running. Here there’s no need. They walk among people and traffic with no concern.
We will be picking up bicycles tomorrow and maybe a practice drive in the ISF jeep (bought for the festival), quite a feat on the roads here!
Always lots to do and any waiting time allow us to soak in the very different culture.
